melbourne zoo

last saturday, my husband and i went to the melbourne zoo. it is a huge sanctuary that you could almost spend one whole day to stroll around the place.

along the zoo trailway

zoo facade

good thing the trees there are tall just safe enough to protect us from the heat of the sun. and we enjoyed watching the behaviors of different varieties of animals. we were also able to catch the lion and wild dogs feeding time at 3pm and 4pm respectively. it's so amazing to see how they hunt for food hidden by the feeders somewhere the den.

haanng tatakaw!

however, what we enjoyed most was observing the orangutan couple while they were eating and play with the kids behind the glass wall. the creatures are so sentient that they also try to have fun by watching the people looking at them. maybe they were so curious about us as we are to them, hehe :)

aww so cute!

and since we can't take the monkeys home, we just got one from the souvenir shop. of course not a real one, but has a bit resemblance, hehe. meet paul frank! :)

on the new "BOND"

to cool us down a bit during the hot sunday afternoon, my husband and i stayed in the mall for a while and watched casino royale. daniel craig, the new james bond guy was awesome :) he is not the typical "gwaping" actor but he has this x-factor when it comes to portraying the role. and i also liked the plot of the movie. good twist! :)

the new "BOND"

looking forward to the next sequel :)

avoid the OZ heat

last weekend, the weather here in melbourne was not so skin-friendly. the air in cbd was quite smoky due to the bush fires happening on some parts of victoria not to mention the hot climate during those days. it was the hottest i have experienced so far.

but i noticed that there are some people who hate the shade and rather enjoy the ray on their outer epidermis by sun bathing in the library park. don't they realize the harm of it? probably that's also one of the reasons why australia ranked #1 as country with the highest incidence of skin melanoma or skin cancer. aside from the televised warning, i think the government should really do something about it to help the people understand the risks of too much sun exposure.

sweet thing...

as my birthday gift for my hubby and by request na rin, i cooked his favorite leche flan [custard)] yesterday. once more, i made a perfect mixture [so inspired i guess ;) ]. the sweetness was just right :) i also shared some to my friends, vincent & joni.

YUM!!!

actually, three years ago, a guy used to make jokes about my cooking and even dared me to make leche flan for him. he was one of my batchmates in accenture. and i made a promise to him that i will give him a sample of my pastry-cook. not to impress him but to prove that i can really cook. haha! but sadly, due to our busy schedules and "focus", that deal was not taken seriously and forgotten for a while. and who would have thought that after three years, i will be his lifetime chef :)

double birthday bash

last Saturday, we did a simple double birthday celebration at hard rock cafe -- celebration for my birthday and my hubby's. we had lunch with some of our filipino friends. the food and service are great :) we enjoyed the ambiance of the place while the old & new alternative music playing in the background.

we chose to be seated near the drum set of silverchair band. so the boys requested to have a picture with it.

we also enjoyed looking at memorabilias of some famous music artists. we're sure to go back there some other time :)
